The movie Eurotrip came out when I was 30, and I always wished I could have gone to Europe when I was in my early twenties. Life took over, and now I am turning 50 and have finally decided to make it happen. It will not be crazy like it was in the movie but I am sure it will be an adventure.
I’m looking forward to my trip, which I’ve planned for over nine months. It will be the adventure of a lifetime as I’ll travel for 35 days, 5-6 countries and 7-8 major cities, to see and experience cultures and historical landmarks I have only read about. Not everyone will share my excitement about the sites I’ll visit, but I’m still eager to experience them for myself.
In planning, I discovered that being a larger person, whether in height or width, affects the tours I can participate in. I found tours in both Florence and Rome that I was interested in, as they offered the opportunity to climb to the rooftops for panoramic city views. However, after watching some videos of people on these tours, I realized that the narrow staircases most likely will lead to claustrophobic feelings. I saw a video of a petite lady struggling to navigate the tight spaces, which made me anxious about the thought of getting stuck.
In addition to ensuring a smooth tour experience, I’ve also been thinking about capturing memorable moments through photography. I considered getting attachable lenses for my mobile phone to enhance my photo-taking capabilities. However, after weighing the pros and cons, I concluded that carrying multiple lenses and attachments would take up too much pocket space. I purchased a sling bag for security reasons, but it still has limited space. The attachable lenses also come with their own set of inconveniences, such as needing a universal lens clip or a specific phone case.
I have two days left. I’m packed for five week and temperatures ranging from 90-40 degrees up to Octoberfest. I’m taking a few things for my cousin which will give me plenty of room to bring plenty of stuff back.
Keep an eye out. Many pictures to share in the coming month.
